A Room with a (Drupal) View
Drupal is a content management system that is taking the world by storm, and in particular Drupal distributions (customizations of Drupal to answer the needs of specific verticals) are introducing Drupal to new markets. Here at Bluespark Labs we are strong believers in the distribution model as a means to expand the adoption of Drupal and are excited to be working on a solution for the travel market which we call Drupal Rooms.
The aim of Drupal Rooms is to make Drupal the go-to platform for building a hotel, bed and breakfast, or vacation rental site. Drupal offers a host of powerful features (media management, social media integration, multi-lingual support, commerce, and others) and the aim is to integrate all those in a package that suits and empowers accommodation owners.
The first step towards that path is resolving the booking issue itself and I'm glad to report that development on the Rooms module is moving forward at a good pace. Rooms will offer an easy way for accommodation owners to set up rooms, define pricing rules across many variables, as well as accept and manage bookings and payments directly on their website.
Alpha-stage code will be released by the end of next week on Drupal.org and we are hoping to get plenty of feedback about possible directions and solutions.
In step with the specific Rooms module, we are building out the Drupal distribution and by Drupalcon London we will be demoing and talking with people about the Drupal Rooms distribution and Drupal's role in travel.

Awesome! Drupal has been waiting a long time for a solution like this! Is this going to be D7 based? Are you leveraging Entities, etc?
Can. Not. Wait.
Hi Mike,
Yes, it's all D7, and yes we're leveraging the best that drupal has to offer. Thanks for your interest! stay tuned.
Hi
I'm the module maintainer of uc_hotel and would be keen to help out with this project.
I've got a fair few ideas about where this could go and have built some interesting implementations on Drupal 6 with Ubercart that would be cool on 7 with Commerce.
Get in touch via my drupal contact page or via email.
Thanks
Lee
Hi Lee,
I think you've got a talk with Ron lined up... he'll help us all coordinate.
I am trying to get Rooms going on D7 and for some reason I do not see the 3 month calendar view under manage availability. I only see 6 gray rectangles - in the top 3 I see "back", "current", "forward" and the bottom 3 are blank.
Please help.
Regards,
Nick
